Hi all
In order to get my XI on Danish plates it has to have colapsible steering of some kind so I intend to make a colapsible lower steering column and put a piece of tubing over the upper column.
But to do that I need the 2 U-joints that goes on the steering rack and on the upper steering column.
Westfield can't deliver so I wondered if any of you have a spare one or could tell me where to find them (U-joint), they must have come from some standard British car of some kind.
Best regards Jorn

Re: Lower steering column
Any of the racing hard parts suppliers can set you up with splined U joints to fit your collapsable steering shaft. You can also use an industrial supply. Just make sure that you use a high quality joint.
The parts don't come off of any car that I am aware of. They appear to be a standard industrial type of U joint, internally splined. Note that you may have to have your steering shafts splined to fit the new U joints.
You might cut your existing lower steering shaft and use the joints that you already have. Anyway, the parts are not that expensive.
You will need the original front end of the Spridget steering column so that you can attach the front U joint to the rack stub shaft. This piece will have to be drilled out so that you can insert the stub shaft to your front U joint.
