The mad (but slow moving) genius is finally getting somewhere. It's only taken 5 years!

Still a little work to finish, like redo carb manifold to position carb over exhaust, re-site expansion tank, re-route the radiator plumbing and fit a belt, oh and get it running. Another 5 years should do the trick, just in time for some good weather!

Looks absolutely super! (charged) !! Can't beleve you managed to get that one to fit under the bonnet!
Love to have that in my XI, Oh how I love that whining sound a superchargers makes...........

Just out of curiosity, did you implement your supercharger set up using Vizard's recommendations? And which blower did you use?

I do have the big yellow book, but I don't recall any specific insructions from Vizard about supercharger setups other than the usual.

When I built the engine originally I had this in mind so I did install oil spray jets to help cool the pistons.

No it isn't a Shorrock! It's an Eaton M45 from a BMW 0.5 Series (Mini) and yes I am running a single poly vee belt using an MPI pulley. Currently unsure about the wrap on the waterpump but that's work in progress.

Relocating the timing cover breather to the redundant dizzy hole hasn't been a resounding success either but I'm working on that too. However, whenever I try to take a breather from the rocker cover I end up removing the oil from the engine and depositing it in the catch tank (and then the road when the catch tank is full!). At present I plan to reinstate a timing cover breather somehow.

Hi Matthew,

Thanks for the info. Just curious about how this might be implemented. I know a man with a supercharger on his shelf (and another Rootes-type device out of an aircraft!) and it reminded me of your project.

Couple a blower with that fuel injection kit from the other thread adn 3D ignition and you'd have a pretty potent (if not hugely expensive!!) A-Series.

Probably cheaper ways to 120bhp, mind you. :D

BTW, about those oil spray jets...

I already have the mapped ignition, I went Megajolt. Fuel injection I ruled out at the moment as I think that it would work better on a non siamesed head.

I haven't had the car set up yet, however, pre blower it was 99.9bhp at Northampton Motorsport.

As for the spray jets, I bought 4 new ones to suit a Ford Zetec, drilled into the oil gallery that runs along the block about level with the bottom of the bore and Bob's your father's brother. Just have to be a bit clever lining everything up to miss rotating bits.
