Jon tell me more about T Jones please are they reliable etc? At the mo I am looking at a hire car to collect from a Glasgow night stop in a few days and bringing it back as hand luggage!! Will have to measure up to make sure it will go in the forward hold of the venerable 737... All this if my cousin can't pop down from Edinburgh to get it or can't get a courier. Main prob is wrapping it and it not getting smashed to bits on the way south...

At the mo,assuming I successfully retrieve this latest piece, apart from my complete but tatty racer, I have about 8/10ths of a body and a cunning plan to get a chassis that I actually fit in to. I have decided that the standard Westy chassis is just too tight for me so am going to sell my racer and scratch build my car. I retire in 2030 and at the current rate of progress, should just be finished in time!

Getting it into the hold will be the least of your difficulties. You haven't a hope in hell of getting it into a hire car. You'll need a transit at the very least. And as for GLA security...........

There are plenty of small courier firms. I'd try approaching one of those that specialise in antique furniture. If you explained what it is, perhaps emailed a photo or two, I that they'd be willing to help. My guess is that you'll be charged in the region of £120. You just need to persuade the cousin to drive over with a monster roll of bubble-wrap!

Trev picked up No42 and spares associated from Sussex and delivered to me in Wilts. He has a large Transit-type van towing a huge trailer.

If you can wait, he may be able to swing past and fit your panels in the van while he's doing a delivery to/fro Scotland.

Utterly reliable, keenly priced and a top chap to boot.

Drop me a PM/email for more details.

Plan is soft surfboard rack on top of the hire car, wrap it in blanket, strap to top and drive slowly. Worked for the front end!

As for Glasgow security, it's crew luggage, just a bit oddly shaped! Don' t think the seller will wait very long as already being hassled for pickup.... If it doesn't go through the hold aperture I am screwed though!

Should fit in the hold fine. I think you'll also get in on the roof OK. The scuttle will go inside the car. Probably. :D
