It's very quiet on here. Has everybody gone away?
Belated happy Christmas, and happy new year to All.

Unlike usual Commonwealth habit we take coffee rather than tea break in the Netherlands in the afternoon. At that is exactly what I am doing now while working on the Ford side valve engine that will end up in my Eleven Sport 45.

Best wishes for the New Year to all members of the Register.

Yes, very quiet. Wife and 15 month old daughter flew off to visit the family in Brazil, and to enjoy the heat, humidity and mosquitos after a lovely 18 hours of air travel, including a 5 hour layover in Sao Paulo waiting for their flight to Goiania. Daughter now has two passports, two citizenships, and the command of two languages (she is an instant translator, and knows all the cars in the collection). Mother and Daughter are doing fine, and will be back in a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, I had a little extra time, so...

After more than a decade of ownership of #129, I went out to the garage, grabbed a piece of alloy sheet (best price on this is from Aircraft Spruce, BTW. Best prices on AN aircraft bolts, castle nuts, washers and split pins as well), and made a nice little box to cover the top of the hanging pedal quadrant (fabricated steel on my early car rather than the production pedal assembly from a Spridget), sealing the footbox off from the hot air of the engine compartment. Finally, the temps in the foot box will be tolerable in the summer. However, it's in the 50s F here, and my feet will be deprived of all that exhaust heat... Anyway, my air riveter, combination shear, break and roller machine worked perfectly, and I was able to do the fabrication in an hour. See, I kept making one side with the wrong bend (too much wine with dinner?). I will probably make one more version using new side panels (but the one on the car actually looks pretty good). It attaches to the chassis and firewall with Velcro to facilitate quick removal of the scuttle for fluid checks and electrical inspections.

I am off to see my parents (Mom is 88, and still drives her '86 Turbo Porsche and shifts gears), and will be taking the "Lotish" for the 100 mile round trip in the nice crisp weather. 'Probably take the PCH beach route through the canyons and Malibu. Sweater, turtle neck at the ready.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you all!

I think I'll be the first of you to see 2016... ;)

About to launch onto Sections 4 and 3 of the Wilson Trail. Much nicer day here than in Wilts! :o

I need to find a nearby specialist who can sort out my in-bedded #2 without me pulling the engine for a (nother) rebuild.

Suggestions for the SW area welcome!
