I've done the mod running the tap into the radiator, header tank and the return hose just past the thermostat, and there is no difference in warm up time.

I also always drill a couple of 3/32" holes in the thermostat base plate to help with purging bubbles, AND... I also get rid of the bypass under the cylinder head.

BTW, the Westfield 11 that is in my build album on the westyxiownersbuildersdrivers site is going to be up for sale.
This is the finest W11 that I have ever seen, and it drives beautifully. Everything from a 125 HP engine to the LSD and Protech double adjustable dampers. CR SP components 5 speed, custom rad and competition front spindles with Timken bearings, with a dual master cylinder, bias bar brake system, double bearing hub rear axle with Peter May axles, all on 15" wire wheels with vintage race Dunlops. Fully sorted and serviced. 4500 miles.

This one is not inexpensive, with a build cost of around $60,000 USD. However, a good deal can be made.

Unfortunately, the enthusiast owner is unable to drive.
There is also a lovely 1950 Beachcraft Bonanza available, fully updated.
I can send a picture of both if anyone is interested.

I like the sound of the Bonanza. What'll it rev to, Mister? :D (About 2650, I reckon).

I'll take both!! :D

In other news, the hose needed for my mod is a 1" 90 elbow with 1/2" spigot. About 3" each end to middle of outside radius. ThenMidget bottom hose does not fit. Never mind... it was a good try!

I'll try to source the required part and report back. I did burp out an air lock, and then took the car out for a run round ten lanes and a top up of super unleaded. She ran really nicely. Deep joy!! :D

You can get a metal fitting that fits into the top hose (just about anywhere you want), or you can run the hose to the capped off bleed on the radiator. Or you can put a fitting into your fill point/swirl pot/header tank. The fittings are tight, don't leak and seem to work fine with the stock type hoses.

ASH can't help. I have one of their 90 deg elbows at the moment.

Looking for a pex reducing tee now... Different approach.

Got a link to those fittings, please Jan?

Update:

The reducing tee I'm after is 1/2 x 1/2 x 5/8". This is to tee into the feed out the bottom of the header tank. I don't want to dismantle it twice, so I'd be grateful if any of the guys currently building can confirm the larger spigot on the base of the plastic Westfield Header Tank is circa 16mm.

Hopefully find a brass version in Home Depot tomorrow afternoon.

Cheers

The hose fittings that can be attached to the rubber top hose are from www.burtonpower.com in the UK.
This makes attachment of the cylinder head heater/bleed hose very simple, and leak free.

I forgot to mention that the fittings are from Revotech.

This should greatly simplify the installation of a cylinder head bleed hose.

One more thing...

You are looking for Revotec Self Sealing Fittings.

That should help. Page 9 of the Revotec catalog on Burton's site.
