Hullavington Trackday 19 Apr 13

Post by jonclancy »

Folks, we are on for April 19th at Hullavington.

http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php ... 19-apr-13/

The WSCC Cotswolds team will be there, plus some local racers. Great venue, workspace and tools available up the road, and a professionally run day on a decent surface.

I have still to make my booking, but will do so in the next week or so.

Oh, and if you need a helmet, they will sell or hire you one at the venue.

There is also a pro-photo set-up who will sell you your pics on a USB "bracelet". Bring it back next time and get your pics loaded on to it for a big discount.

Directions in this other post:

From whichever direction, come towards the M4 Karting Hangars. Just before you get to the hangars, turn left/right into Hullavington Airfield and follow the peri-track at 15MPH tops around to the pit-lane.

Paste these into google maps:

Pit lane: 51.532428,-2.13324

Would love to come. Unfortunately, I'll be at work, the car is in pieces and I'm helping the neighbour remove, strip and rebuild his RX8 engine which is soaking up all my spare time to fix my car :?

Just to let you know that JRL and I are all booked in. A couple of small jobs to do on the car beforehand, but nothing too serious.

I'm looking forward to this!!

If my sump isn't too bad and the JB Weld has done the job, I will be running the XI down to the Easter Revival at Thruxton this afternoon. If it looks like the oil is still leaking, I'll take the W124 out for a run instead.

Win/Win! :D

Rear brakes bled and new bleed screws installed.

Stainless Rivnut installed for modified Earth point (need to just get the meter on it to prove minimal resistance).

Smoothrite applied to JB Weld repair on dented sump.

Just need to bed in the 1144 pads and give the car a good wash and we're ready to go! :D

Can't wait!

Good and bad.

Good: the new brakes are excellent!!! :D

Bad: I need to re-bleed the clutch. That'll have to wait until Thursday afternoon.

Otherwise, I have a tank of petrol and am ready to roll!

Indeed the weather was fine. Just a very light shower for 10 mins or so.

Car is back in the garage and I'm going for a lie down. It was a good day with 110 miles put on the car (most at some speed), and the new fluid in the clutch hydraulics, brakes, gearbox etc all worked very well indeed.

Stars of the day were the 1144 brake pads. It's a day and night comparison to standard pads, and for £30 a set and 15 mins work, you'd be daft not to fit them!

Next time, Splat. Probably around Sept when I've saved up some more dough to blow on Motorsport!
