Mine were quite a way off too but it would be boring if it was easy!!!! It may sound savage but I got a perfect result using a dremel style tool. It took me ages and it's an eye/skin removing job. As Jon said plenty of check check and double check marking and then really slow with the tool as it gets hot and melts very easily
IVA retest for me next Friday so will be reinstalling my clear covers on Saturday fingers crossed.
