I found a link to what looks like the correct THREE pin plug for MY alternator. P IG L or S IG L. The P or S is the voltage sensing pin for the alternator regulator, and is, apparantly, best connected to the battery directly.

To protect your regulator from electrical spikes if the ignition was pulled while the engine was running, you need a ballast resistor to show a load to the alternator.
